Respite for the Banbury, Brackley, Bicester and Abingdon areas
Allowing you to plan ahead.
Our dedicated respite or holiday beds can be booked well in advance to allow carers to plan a rest or book a holiday for themselves.
These beds can also be used for convalescence or intermediate care after an operation, to help patients in their preparations to regain independence prior to returning home.
Specialist services and therapies
As well as being able to meet the needs of most adults over the age of 18 who require residential or nursing care, we also specialise in conditions such as:
- Dementia, (younger adults & elderly)
- Parkinson's Disease
- Learning Difficulties
Respite is a chance for us to provide a tailored holiday, so our trained professional staff will enquire about interests and hobbies prior to each booking.
This enables us to provide activities that offer interest and stimulation for each of our guests, who individually benefit from a dedicated hour each weekday with our activities coordinator.
In addition we offer our respite guests the opportunity to participate in the entertainments and activities offered to our permanent residents if they wish to do so; these include concerts, sing-a-longs, outings, arts and crafts activities, flower arranging, bingo, “treat time”, a gentle walk outside…
Additional therapies can also be provided, including:
- Hairdressing
- Physiotherapy
- Reflexology
- Alexander Technique
- Chiropody
- Massage
- Art therapy
- McTimoney Chiropractic
- Manicures
- Aromatherapy
- Reiki
- etc
If you would like other therapies or activities, do please ask and we will do our best to help.
Emergency respite
Respite care can also be booked at short notice in case of emergencies, e.g. when a carer is taken ill. We will always try to help, and if our respite room is already occupied, we may be able to offer an alternative room.
Facilities
Fewcott’s respite suite of a bedroom, sitting room and private bathroom, is situated in the west wing of this beautiful manor house, with fabulous views of the magnificent grounds and lake (with ducks!).
Leafield’s en suite respite room has been newly refurbished, and is conveniently situated close to many local amenities and good transport links in north Abingdon.
Ad hoc respite is also available at our sister home, St Anne’s Care Home, near Deddington, which specialises in caring for patients with high dependency levels but who do not yet need nursing care.
